Yep, I did say "At the moment aa.com offers "the lowest guaranteed price" of $665 with the only alternatives being $4791 (!yep, it's true!) for a Y class fare, or a bargain basement $3668 for discounted Business."
Curiously, one of the constructive suggestions I made to AA customer service was that if they couldn't offer a choice of service on board, why didn't they at least allow me to trade higher price for lower change fees on aa.com, but all I got for my trouble was the lecture on "business travellers pay full price, disctrionary travellers want the lowest price".
Another strange thing about aa.com is if you select the "without restrictions" and "oneworld" option on Transatlantics, you get a choice of AA Y or BA B class with the AA at the top of the list. Scroll down and BA is half the price! Doh! Who's gonna take AA?
