DC9 Emergency Landing

From Minneapolis StarTribune:

A Northwest Airlines DC-9 with 66 passengers and crew members landed safely this evening at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport after its right rear landing gear failed to deploy.

No one on Flight 877 from Louisville, Ky., was hurt and there was no fire, although emergency crews were standing by when the aircraft landed at 7:28 p.m., said airport spokesman Patrick Hogan.

One runway remained closed about an hour afterward, he said. Because it happened in the evening, when air traffic was light, the closure of the runway wasn't expected to cause major delays, Hogan said.

Passengers were taken from the aircraft to the terminal via bus, he said.
