I'm sure you're right, statistically, but nonetheless I look to history which is full of examples of the best opinions of the time being proved wrong later; otherwise we wouldn't have so much hindsight.

As for logic... Teddybears don't make us safer but they help us feel safer. I've been on 777s over the Atlantic, and I'm sure I will again, but 4 engines gives me a teddybear.
