Wrigleyville is great, but I think you would like the area around the Hancock center, the Gold Coast area which is a few blocks north of it and the MagMile on Michigan. Also, another great area is River North bound roughly by Chicago, Michigan, Orleans, and Grand. Chitown has many great neighborhoods: this is why Chicago is called the city of neighborhoods. Oftentimes, only visit the Loop, and then you miss out on all the great places our city has to offer.
I walked the MagMile and hung around the Hancock center a bit -- didn't really appeal to me. Partially because I have one bad association with Chicago (girl thing...) but the _very_ urban areas just don't seem to appeal to me as much. True, however, that I haven't really seen much of Chicago. Three separate day trips don't quite count.
