At least as of last July 2006, the 7-11 inside Changi doesn't carry any phone cards!

Also, in SIN in December, I went to Bugis Junction Mall, which has M1 and SingTel, as well as StarHub shops where you can comparison shop.
I ended up with a cute Motorola phone (in pink, no less!). It was only S$138, plus then I got a M1 prepaid card (which is a SIM Card) for $18.... and it includes $18 credit. You can top it up with Top-Up cards sold at M1 shops and convenience stores all around the island.
You need to Top-Up every 6 months. You can Top-Up while overseas, but you need to have bought a Top-Up card to use. I topped up from BKK on January 5th, and I will be getting back to SIN on July 1st, so it'll be exciting to not have to get another new phone number!
