Check In w/o Photo ID?
Last night I left my travel wallet in a cab in Manhattan, and I don't expect to recover it before my flight home tomorrow morning from LGA. I stayed with friends last night, but I will be staying at the Sheraton LGA (Flushing) this evening.
I keep backup credit cards in my travel bag just in case I do something just like this, but I don't have a photocopy of my passport, which I bring with me when traveling abroad. My company's HR dept is scrambling to find a photocopy of my passport that I gave them when I was hired several years ago.
What are my chances of successfully proving that I'm me with a) a fax of a photocopy of my passport or (more likely) b) just my business cards and credit cards and Blackberry, etc.? I do happen to have a monogrammed roller bag with me (wedding present; I'm not a monogram person).
Is this a government requirement or a hotel policy that they might waive for someone with 23 stays at other properties (most of them in NYC) last year? Anyone have any other novel ideas of how to prove identity?
I appreciate any ideas that FTers have. Thanks in advance.
