Full Y gets you the lower amount (I think 5,000 one way domestic); B/M are the select fares that you pay more (I think 15,000 one way domestic). I've never really bothered doing it; if I'm on a full-fare, I'll take my chances playing the upgrade lottery, since the only people that trump a Silver on a full Y is a Gold or Platinum on a full Y.
