The word is "guideline." The requirement at MSN is 30 minutes, even if you're checking bags.
I never, NEVER show up more than 45 minutes before a flight leaving MSN and if I have just a carryon and used OLCI, it's more like 25 minutes before the flight. If they haven't started boarding by the time I arrive at the gate, I feel I've wasted some of my life.
Oh, back to the OP -- yeah, OLCI. But it sounds like you did and were just trying to reprint your docs, which means you just got stuck in a bad place due to no fault of your own (other than forgetting your boarding passes).
