Back in June (of last year), I had to cancel a reservation for an international trip (SFO-TLV via EWR). I had a fairly expensive non-refundable BusinessFirst ticket. I know that I can apply the value from that ticket to future travel within one year. However, I'm not clear on a few things:
  • Must the new ticket be in my name, or can I book a ticket for someone else?
  • If the cost of the new ticket is less than the residual value from the old ticket, I'm assuming that I'll get a travel credit. Should the expiration date for this travel credit be one year from today or one year from the purchase date of the old ticket?

I have never tried to rebook in anything but my name. I have no idea if they'll let you apply the credit to another passenger. They might.

I don't believe the clock starts again.
