I just logged into my Marriott rewards account and noticed that for status I am being quoted X nights to stay to reach Gold. While tracking my Megabonus progress the quotes are X stays.

My question:

Does Marriott use the words night and stay interchangeably?

If not, I guess it would make sense not to book one 5 night stay during the Megabonus but rather book five one night stays.

What's your understanding of Marriott's use of "stays" and "nights"
