I hear you, but disagree. These type of diversions happen all the time and these divert airports can handle planes that don't routinely arrive at their gates. What would they have done in the event of an onboard medical emergency?

I remember waiting for a departure out of LEX and watching many Delta flights land that were diverted from CVG, which was closed due to snow. At least one 757 deplaned passengers via a gate bridge and there is certainly not a 757 on the LEX schedule anywhere.
