If your fares drop in the future, AA will can credit your credit-card for the difference. It's called a "roll-over". NO change fee, but they will issue a new ticket in an "exchange".

AA only credits the difference in BASE PRICE, not the taxes. (Lame. NW/CO used to credit the entire difference. But CO now charges $100 to do a price-drop, so AA is better.

Call AA and ask about a "roll-over" to the $260 price. I think miamigrad is correct that there probably weren't 3 seats in the fare bucket. But call AA anyways...
