Call HHonors (not Amex) and tell them that you are going to shift your busy to *wood and cancel your HH Amex w/ $150k annual spend. I did this several years ago when my status dropped to Gold thanks to a local project. I called Hilton and they had my status reinstated. Not sure if this will work in your case if you do not have enough stay history w/ Hilton to make the threat real, but it is worth trying....
