Schengen Visas and Passport Control

Hi folks,

I’ve trawled the web and can’t find the answer to this. Any experiences from that anyone wants to share?

My wife is Chinese and has just got a Schengen Visa multi-entry for 6 months in her passport, issued by France. Schengen requirements state that you must have the VISA issued by the country that you first go to or the one that you intend to spend the most time in. She hasn’t gone anywhere on it yet, and although was expecting to go to France for a few days first, an opportunity to go to Greece has popped up instead and she wants to go there.

What I don’t understand is whether she can go to Greece for a single trip now, even though it’s her first country to visit, as long as she goes on another trip to France for a longer time at a later date – after all the visa is multi-entry? Will passport control decline her entry because she’s only going to Greece this trip and not to France, i.e. does she have to be travelling to France for the longest part of the first full trip she takes?
