That's exactly correct, unfortunately. I've done this before to avoid the higher cost. The real kicker, sometimes, is that I can get 1 at the $260 rate (to use this example), then a second at $260...but couldn't book two together at $260. Sometimes the fare bin gets replenished, though not often.

To the OP- if the tickets are purchased, you will not be able to get the difference back, usually. If it was done very recently (and does not yet show "Ticketed") you may be able to call. It seems like you won't get the whole $60 back, though, as there were not 3 seats at that price...more like $20 or $40 at best (unless my occasional example holds).

It can't hurt to call and try, but the official policy is No.
