I normally fly UA, but have some old US Airways miles that I was planning to use on an award ticket on UA flights. Here are a few questions that I have as the award ticket relates to UA.

1) Will UA recognize my status on the flights for seating? Do I just call UA after making my award reservation with US?

2) How is UA award availability using US miles? Should most flights be available if they show up in the ANA tool or using the Award Travel feature on UAL.COM? Are taxes similar or does US also charge the fuel surcharge (YQ) lke LH does?
