I wouldn't worry until the end of January. Here's the fine print from the promotion:

"Please allow 5 weeks for points to post to your account. Shipping and some merchandise items and gift certificates do not qualify for point awards. Points will be deducted for returns. Amtrak is not responsible for the content of our partner merchants' web sites. Point earning levels are subject to change at any time."
