LAX is probably the same if not 'worse'. So we're talking 60 Y connections + 20 J connections just from CO 85. Add in CO 91 and you're talking a hell of a lot of connecting traffic. Now, consider you could route the connections through CLE, and load up more O/D J in EWR, AND free up a lot of premium transcon seats.

Finally, one of the most important issues wrt premium seats: if you're looking for a J class ticket from SFO-EWR-TLV a week in advance ($$$$), you will be in Y on SFO-EWR. That is unlikely to be the case nearly as much on SFO-CLE. All around it makes more sense, and its more convenient than IAH-TLV and finally, only requires a 762 which theoretically can be shaken loose somehow.
All good points and I agree about the logic of CLE-TLV; however, I can't see CO adding such a flight. If they add capacity, it will be from EWR or IAH (as Larry has hinted).
