Some of them actually use the word "Grand" in their name. For instance, I stayed at the Grand Hotel am Dom in Erfurt, Germany. This property, just across from the new Theatrer Erfurt and around the corner from the imposing Dom, is new construction and was opened around the beginning of 2005. It is definitely 4* - a beatiful atrium design and well-done public rooms. The sleeping rooms are medium size (for Europe) and are furnished in a clean, modern, somewhat minimalist fashion. Stylish with heated floors. Excellent restaurant (for breakfast).
