EWR-TLV 3x daily makes a lot of sense. But in fact, CLE-TLV makes more sense. Last night I was on the way back from a MR, on CO 648 the 8pm EWR-SFO, half of first was connections from TLV, and a good 15% of Y.

LAX is probably the same if not 'worse'. So we're talking 60 Y connections + 20 J connections just from CO 85. Add in CO 91 and you're talking a hell of a lot of connecting traffic. Now, consider you could route the connections through CLE, and load up more O/D J in EWR, AND free up a lot of premium transcon seats.

Finally, one of the most important issues wrt premium seats: if you're looking for a J class ticket from SFO-EWR-TLV a week in advance ($$$$), you will be in Y on SFO-EWR. That is unlikely to be the case nearly as much on SFO-CLE. All around it makes more sense, and its more convenient than IAH-TLV and finally, only requires a 762 which theoretically can be shaken loose somehow.
