I flew through on the first day (2/24). Arrival from CLT was pretty good. We arrived about 20 mintues early! but of course they weren't ready for us. Even though we were at the gate, they didn't have the jet way ready. We waited about 10 minutes. Then, when they moved in place the ramp agent actually hit the plane so hard the plane rocked. It was good for a laugh.

New Terminal? BEAUTIFUL! Amazing! Great restaurants (Rio Wraps is really good). The Budweiser Bar overlooks international departures...so you are starring at a 747-400 while you have your beer. Pleanty of people on hand to offer assistance and direction. The water fountain was popular... It is truely a great terminal. And dang that parking garage is enormous when you taxi next to it!!

Now....contrast this wonderful "Terminal A" experiences with "Terminal C". GIVE ME BACK THE OLD G CONCOURSE!!

What a nightmare. Way too small...way to confusing...the staff was not prepared, computers were not working. They apparently flew in station managers to help. There weren't enough seats in the waiting area. People were all over the place. Picture this:

You get to the C Concourse and there are doors labeled "DOOR A"-"DOOR L" or so. The area is probably HALF of the old G concourse. Up above each door is the gate and city. So, most doors will have 2-3 cities listed. People are tyring to figure it out...my flight was scheduled for 3:20. At 3:30 I muscled my way to an agent who would not even look at me until she figured out her printer problem. They were not making ANY annoucements unless they were boarding the gate. Once I got past this boarding door, then you are in the little C Concourse with the gates to the plane. My "DOOR" said C-19. I get to C-19 and the agent had no clue about my flight. Hell, there wasn't even a plane. When I asked what gate had it changed to since the 3 mintues I walked through the door she looked at me and said: "I don't know...you will have to walk back to the main door" I was livid. I asked if she could look at her computer and tell me? "No, they aren't working". Well, before I got back to the main door, a fellow passenger told me what gate.

FAIR WARNING! The moving walkways within the C Councourse are not FINISHED. (So C-20+ is still a miserable walk, folks! No getting around it!) The walkway between B & C to A is working.

We left approximately 50 minutes late due to the confusion and lack of luggage. (Glad I didn't check!!)

Overall...loved A, loathed C and in fact would rather have the old, big G back in it's place. The jetway is cool, though--no more buses!

I am definately looking forward to flying from DTW again!

PS: Flight attendant told us the old G was starting to be demolished and will be replaced with a 747 hanger.
