Interesting watching the Sky News report on the closure of BRS earlier today...the LyarAir flight which touched down waggled its tail a little...all sorts of speculation as to whether this runway is 'safe' but has there been any as to why some airlines continue to use it and others flatly refuse? Ahh yes, there has been much speculation about these reasons over on PP.
Some of the reasoning by PP'ers is that:
- those airlines continuing to operate tend to use turbo props which have a shorter stopping distance, but obviously only applies to
some of the airlines
- the airport hasn't officially stated that there is a problem so some airlines feel there are grounds to continue.
- some posters have said that some of the foreign airlines haven't been as aware of the sitation as domestic carriers.
