BUT I do recall an interview a year ago where a spokesperson for SK mentioned that the staff had such ridicolous demands for compensation making Christmas and New Years flight totally impossible from a cost perspective.
I agree with the first para - of course they should!
However, note that unions should not hold a company to ransom, if they can operate their business effectively, even on certain holidays enjoyed by their country/region (if they want to remain a player with all the consolidation going on) - they are already outsourcing their call centers, so I think that having a few contract FA's/pilots, etc. should be an option to have as a backup - like LH does (did?). LH has Indian FA's on a different compensation package, and they fly all different sectors on LH's routes, including the US ones...
