Some of my friends actually routinely do this and never had a problem with it. Of course, they don't tell the front desk, and switch rooms every day (which also can have advantages as well). It also helps if the hotel isn't full to facilitate the late checkout/early checkin requests. Basically, as long as you're willing to switch rooms every night, there is NO way for the hotel to even attempt to disallow this type of stay pattern.
