Your comment is not very informative. Maybe you are from different generations. I as a non English native speaker appreciate the correction as I might have looked the word up in a dictionary and might have got a wrong result, wheras U is clearly understandable to anyone. And the Americans are foozling the language anyway. Who would know what the origin is when reading Xmas for example?
