Sorry to hear you've had trouble at your favorite hotel, Mary. But remember: "Life's to short to spend it angry" At each and every hotel there are a few stinky employees and it seems you now found those. By the way, as you know, I've been to the Hyatt GC this past November, for the first time in many years and it seems to me that we met the same rude front desk lady. We were checked in by her and it wasn't really a pleasant person to deal with. I told her I sent a fax requesting for a nice room since it was our first time back trying the GC after having had almost a dozen week long stays at the Marriott World Center as well as the JW Marriott and she replied that she assigned us a "particulary" nice room. When we arrived on the ninth floor (had hoped for a higher floor), we saw she gave us one of those two rooms per floor right next to an elevator (of course non-view). We weren't thrilled. But all the other employees were really really nice to us and combined with the exceptional facilities, we enjoyed our stay (Orlando simply isn't made to stay inside the room)

Nevertheless let me add that when I went to JW for the first time (after having had 10 one week long stays at the World Center in the 5 years preceding), this hotel upgraded me to an executive suite for the entire stay (8 nights). When we arrived they told us they were happy to see we finally tried the JW instead of the World Center. That's what I call customer service! You might try this one out too. Facilities compare to the GC plus it has a Starbucks outlet on property. Downside is that parking isn't free.
