boy, you're full of questions

BUT, I could have managed all this at my local Hyatt at far less than $279 per night (plus taxes).
What exactly do the T&C's say? I find it hard to believe that it has to be 24 hours only b/c I have checked out with a late checkout before say at 2 p.m. and re-checked in the following day at noon (<24 hours) which is perfectly acceptable so I don't believe that it can say 24 hours
Believe it or not, the T&C actually say you can't have a back-to-back stay within a 24 hour period.

Refer to item #7.
Didn't GP say that the hotel can do this they way that they want too. I realize that GP sets the T&C's but what good are they if the hotel can do what they want and not follow the rules
Yup, for a while I thought I was in the twilight zone with each person blaming the other
I disagree - I don't think you earned this courtesy just by staying there like this; in effect you are (and most of us here including me do too) gaming the system. I would fight for it but never would indicate that I thought that I earned the courtesy when I'm gaming the system. I don't disagree with your fight, just the way you are phrasing it.
I meant this as a courtesy to a very repeat customer trying to requalify. It's not like I've never been there before. It's also the only time I have ever done this at any property. I checked, and the T&C do not disallow it.
I get that I took away someone's upgrade, and I didn't post this, but this hotel is going the same route as Kauai. Anyone with $100 per night can now book the "regency club." The floor doesn't matter & all the rooms are the same. The last we were there only people on the RC floor & 17 could get into the RC. The concierges mentioned there were over 175 people with access on Saturday night

and were decidedly not happy about the crowd level.
I'm lost here, if its ok per GP how can the hotel even question it? Just send them Karen's email and you would be fine I would think or am I missing something here?
Your're not missing anything. They kept on waving Item #7 from the T&C saying I wasn't out of the hotel for 24 hours. Even the GM says I broke the rules. Quite frankly, I don't think they really care what the folks at GP have to say.
Everyone at GP was incredibly nice & helpful. Ditto for Karen. It's the hotel & GM that are the problem.
OH, our favorite bellman, the one who always gives me a bear hug when he sees me let me know the hotel occupancy was way down this fall. So far down they let some people go. He said he never recalled it being so slow in all his years there.
