Upgrading domestic award travel for crossover elites

I'm a Northwest Silver and also a Continental Gold. I'm flying LAX-MSP-ATL in February on a domestic award ticket that I used Worldperks miles on.

My question is simply enough whether or not I am allowed to upgrade on these flights? As a NW Silver, I know that the official policy says "no", but in practice they tend to upgrade pax if space is available. However, as a CO Gold flying on NW metal, I would be entitled to an advance upgrade on the award ticket at the 3-day window. Unfortunately, since it is a Worldperks award, my WP number has to be in the record instead of the OP number.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to maximize my chances for the upgrade?
