Taxi from there to PVG is about 150RMB

If I only have carry-on luggage I take the maglev and the subway between my place in the Xuhui district and PVG. My apartment is right beside the subway station and it is usually the fastest route. I did get caught once waiting for the maglev when it was running a restricted schedule.

The maglev is usually not so crowded, but getting through the gates with a lot of luggage is a hassle. There is luggage stowage in the cars, but it can fill up and you can't always see it from your seat.

The subway is typically packed like a sardine can, especially in Puxi and the stations are not great places to haul luggage through.

As far as taxis at Longyang, I have never had any problems, either alone or accompanied. For Shanghai novices, there are different cab companies operating in Shanghai, distinguished by the colors. The best are the white, light blue, and light green. The dark blue and dark maroon should be avoided.
