For travelers planning to visit Thailand, do the machinations of government matter?
Not in the short run of the next few weeks or months.

In the long run -- say six months to a year and more into the future -- then, yes, the entire travel-tourism industry here is going to be seriously affected.
That would be a useful thread, at a later date, as the effects start to become visible.
