Just to add to the other posters, I'm not even sure if/when they will deactivate an account. My wife had an account with some points in it and no activity for at least 5 years and probably closer to 10 years. I was able to create an online account for her and see the points without talking to anyone. Her account was still active as far as Marriott was concerned.
