Could we expect a Delta 787 order this year?

If the US Airways hostile takeover fails, Delta is expected to exit bankruptcy in May or June. Could we expect a 787 order from later this year?

Delta is a likely customer for the 787, and is not expected to order from Airbus. Soon, Delta will need to replace their 767-300s. The 787-8 is a likely model for the initial order. For the domestic 767-300 replacement, Delta could either order the 787-3 or convert 767-300ERs to domestic configuration while reciving the 787-8s for international routes. In the long term once Delta starts to retire the 767-400 fleet, then we could see a 787-9 order. I am sure the 787s will be equipped with GE engines, as GE has been aiding Delta in bankruptcy, and that Delta's 777-200LRs will be equipped with GE engines.

So, will we be seeing a 787 order from Delta this year?
