I love the TrackPoint. I find the 'Soft Rim' cap much better than the default dome, since it has a concave surface. You can see the available caps here:

I believe they sell items that were returned (new, unopened) to IBM's financing unit. I stopped by their offices here in NYC to pick up my purchase, and that's where it had come from.
