To help you better, really need to know what your definition of luxury hotel is? For instance, others mention the harbor view - IMHO there isn't much of a harbor anymore and will you really want to pay for a room with the night skyline?
Are you looking for big rooms, fancy restaurants, etc. etc.

You ask a great question. For me a luxury hotel is a place where the service, rooms and amenities and as polished as possible. I've been in many nice rooms where upon close inspection, looks a little rough around the edges. In bangkok, after trying a nice local hotel and the Penninsula, you could really contrast the difference. The smile from the staff, the make of the rooms and the feel of the place made it that much more of an enjoyable experience. Rooms with a view is not very important for me in my opinion.

I think one should also consider a harbour-view tower room at the Sheraton or a harborview room at the Macro Polo Hong Kong hotel. They offer very good value for the price, which are often significantly less than those true 5*s. The rooms at the Marco Polo are some of the largest in Hong Kong, in any class.

Thanks for the advice. Looking at prices, the Marco Polo Harbour Plaza in Hunghom, Langham Place in Mongkok and very attractively priced. The Sheraton and IC are within a $100 dollars of the other 5 star hotels which doesn't seem as great of a deal.
