I have been told of some sort of security mesh that can be wrapped around backpacks and locked. Has anyone heard of such a thing? and are they allowed to be used on checked bags on EU and US flights?

There have now been too many occasions where things have been taken out of my backpack and I would like to better protect it when I fly.
