Assuming that the delay was not weather related, I think you are definitely entitled to some form of compensation. Chances are it wont come to you, though, without some work. I would either send a letter to UA or write 1Kvoice specifically about the delay, and how you had a business meeting or how you were on vacation and it wasted a whole day. You can expect at least a decent voucher, I would say.
