I actually emailed Starwood's main customer support about the issue, as I was unsure whether this was standard fare or just at this hotel. They were prompt to address my concerns and the Welcome Office at the W will be looking at the verbiage of their ammenities email.
As far as dining, if the fare is not that great at the hotel, we can always go right across the bridge to the Il Fornaio in Palo Alto, we are renting out the one in Irvine for our reception afterall. I realize that the suites are all fairly similar, my request was simply to see if anything could be done primarily because when we booked the room all that was available was an ADA room, and we didn't need to be restricted to the first floor because of it.
