Correct. It is all negotiable if you are a big user of the card. I've negotiated for renewal points (I think 15,000 was the most they've given me) and a rebate of the annual fee. In my experience, in recent years they have become less generous and willing to do less for me, even though my annual spending has remained about the same on the card. I think last year I got 5000 points and my fee credited back.
