Here is a novel idea. Pay the going rate for what you want to do. Trying to "pull a fast one" or get away with something you are not entitled to is not good for your Karma. There is a reason why your very good and very experienced travel agent would charge you...because that is the new price for what you want. If a fare goes down, you are entitled to a difference, if you change your ticket and the fare goes up, the airline is entitled to that money. Treat businesses with respect, if you expect them to treat you with repect.
