Want my points in 2007 NOT 2006

I am in a similar boat to others.

I wrote to Aeroplan today with a request to credit my points to 2007.

I purchased a Welcome Aboard Pass on Dec 21st, 2006, and I noticed on my Account Balance statement today that 2,000 Status Miles were credited to my account on the same day.

I do NOT want to have these credited for 2006, and would prefer they be credited in January 2007 toward requalification for 2008.

According to the Applicable Rules on the ETIR sent to me and cut and pasted here (emphasis mine):
“Welcome Aboard Pass is valid for travel from January 9th to March 6th, 2007 regardless of date of purchase.”
and …
“Pass owner earns 2 000 Air Canada Status Miles per month for the duration of the subscription.”

It is fairly plain from the above wording that the points should be posted in January and February. In other words, the validity of the pass is entirely within 2007 “regardless of the date of purchase”, and the points are earned for the “duration of the subscription”, which is also entirely within 2007.

I bought my pass before finding the clarification from Andrew buried mid-thread on this forum. And of course, most flyers are not even aware of FlyerTalk, so I hardly think Andrew posting here gets AC off the hook for inaccurate information printed in their own rules.
