Had a few aborted landings in the past few years, nothing serious.
Last night had a bit of a hairy landing coming into LGW. Strong winds, heavy rain, could feel the aircraft was not head on to the runway thanks to crosswind component on final approach and was expecting a go-round. Those in the front managed to pull it off and got a few claps too...
Most of my dramatic experiences in the air originate from a year in the RAF. Was landing a Grob Tutor with my instructor beside me, everything was fine and in order but about 50ft off the deck the airplane dropped out the sky with an exceptionally heavy thud. Aircraft went U/S for the rest of the day to be checked out and the instructor was rather confused, we hadn't stalled and there were no winds that day!
My wife had a rather scary experience flying with the USAF, ended up diverting to the Azores on a transatlantic flight when problems with the fuel tank developed. Emergency vehicles awaited them with guys dressed up in tin foil uniforms

They ended up alighting the aircraft by emergency chute.
