Just found out that I will be flying to MEM from NYC for the coming 4-6 weeks. Only early non-stop is on NW from LGA at 6 AM. I will be in FC, but have no intention of being at the airport at 4 AM. Will 5 AM be early enough? Pl. let me know what your early morning experiences have been with NW at LGA</font>

I was on that 06:00 flight from LGA to MEM on the first Monday after September 11th.

According to NWA.com, you need to be there 90 mins ahead of time for flights departing before 07:00.

I checked in via the e-ticket kiosk, and it took only about 3 minutes (being very careful not to hit the wrong "buttons" to the security questions).

Not so lucky were those waiting in long, long ticket counter lines-- the ticket counter did not open until after 04:30!

Security lines were long, but likely due to everyone adjusting to the new routine.

BTW, concourse shops past security don't open till 05:30.

Load factor on that flight was 7 F and 14 Y class.

OTOH, at smaller airports, such as BHM, I only had to check in 60 mins prior to flight departure (and I asked NW staff when I arrived BHM).

Smooth flying out of BHM. Almost like the good ol' days.
