Thanks for the tips. I have never stayed at the Landmark but will check that out. The location is good, indeed.

Nai Lert Park looks like a tombstone to me - it could be a great hotel for all I care but I wouldn't stay there. The French restaurant (La maison) is excellent, though.

I haven't had much luck with late checkouts in BKK, despite the competition. I had to fight for a 15:00 (!) checkout at the Met the other day, even had to suggest to the manager that I would walk out and take up residence at the Sukhothai (which in 2006 did offer 18:00 checkouts through Virtuoso, but alas, no longer).

An alternative I came up with is to book the Davis Hotel (a slightly quaint but fine 4.5 star hotel) for $70 for two nights and keep it until 21:00).

Has anyone had any luck with 24 room rates at other hotels?
