This is a very good point. Given the financial situation at NWA the company has done a great job of keeping the train on the tracks over the last couple of years. This could have turned into a customer service nightmare. Lot's of the credit goes to the front line employee's at NWA and, again, given their situation it could have been horrible (I will never forget the labor issues at UAL in the late 90's...we the customers paid for that one)
A commendable job by all involved and hopefully the management at NWA will cut the employees in and give them some more "skin in the game" by formulating a very lucrative profit sharing plan should all of the financial goals be met. It is one thing to make the turn around and it is another roll out on course. I was part of a corporate turn around a few years back and while during the process we were asked to (and did) give up quite a bit of base pay, by the time the company was back on two feet there were many folks who made a lot of money on profit sharing and stock plans and eventually the salaries were back to competitive again. I hope that will be the case for all of the NWA employee’s who ride this out.
Thanks for a great program year and I hope we can see more of the same in '07.
