What else are you going to do? I would have thought that renting a car could be perfect for this trip. It should be a fairly easy drive to Salisbury from LHR, especially on a Saturday morning, and if you want to do several things in that part of the country you can return to LHR after the morning peak on Monday, and get the car back to LHR at about the 48 hour mark.
