I'll add what I can...
UA106 is 777XP (3 class) hence the XC space for a domestic XF reservation. XF would be 60K miles (if it didn't go up in Oct).
UA942 (the 10am flight) is 752 metal, perhaps with pairing to a international 3 class flight, as I currently see O space, in addition to revenue C,D and Z space.
UA6894 is showing F6, X1, R0, so the chances of this XF waitlist clearing is good, IMO. Be aware UA6896 operates about an hour later with similar metal, as a backup, and is paired with UA942.
I only see one C seat assignment on UA106, presumably the OP. There are two assignments in F and a significant amount in Y, either pax or blocks (likely both).
Is there a particular issue which needs clarifying, or does the OP merely wish to understand, in general, the process better?
IMO, the "waitlist" for F on UA106 is an error, unless the OP paid the requisite miles at reservation for a 3 class domestic F itinerary. Clarifications appreciated
