Tell your friend to log into MileagePlus Mall. Go to BN.com or Discovery.com. Either buy something you need and pay the (steep) shipping charges to have them shipped to Oz, or have the item shipped as a gift to someone who lives in the US.

They may even have something downloadable i.e. no shipping charge (although I think bn.com stopped selling ebooks).
