Because you seem totally biased and are GREATLY understating the difference between Signature Service and other legacy/LC carriers' service. I have no elite status on YX, only on UA, so I have no dog in this fight, other than trying to be honest in my assessment here. Yet I would choose YX Signature Service any day over UA Economy Plus if it's available where I am flying.
  • The food is not just somewhat better, but 100% better than anything served in coach on ANY legacy OR LC carrier. And who (other than a snob) cares about whether or not it's served on china? I am eating the food, not the plates.
  • The custom-designed Recaro leather seats are 21" wide compared to 17" on most legacy and LC carriers and FAR more comfortable. They also have footrests and very wide arm rests between the seats and there are NO middle seats!
  • The flight attendants are friendlier and go out of their way to please customers compared to the snarling dragons on most legacy carriers.

And I live in Washington, DC and ALL my flights have been on B-717 Signature Service (to MKE, MSP, and MCI), so I am not concerned one whit with other Midwest services. That is not the topic being discussed here.

Honestly, none of them finish in my top anything. If they get me and my gear to where I've got to go I'm cool with it. As for what the topic is being discussed, I would say that if you are going to assess any organization it is more "objective" to assess as a whole, and not the little part of the pie you ride on. If you ride on Midwest's saver service it ain't no great shakes. If you ride on Connect it is just as uncomfortable as any commuter situation(conceded point: the Fairchilds are more comfortable). Try freezing your ... off on a Beech 1900 for two hours from Milwaukee to Louisville. No question Milwaukee to Boston on signature is fairly decent. Don't turn it into something it isn't though. Certainly also it isn't the Midwest Express I recall 12-14 years ago. That my friend was an airline that kicked everyones ... and took everyones name. Period. As for the REAL topic about Midwest being a takeover target by Airtran. So many on this board and others have been Milwaukeeans claiming "our hometown airline" The fact is this if the mergers between Delta and USAirways as well as Continental and United happen Midwest may not have a choice but to merge to survive. If it isn't Airtran it maybe someone else. Likewise, Midwest will continue to expand in Kansas City. Milwaukee, I'm puzzled as to what Midwest's future holds.

Seeing how you've elected yourself the poobah of this thread tell me what you would like to discuss next. I like the debate as you seem to also. Nothing like a good, healthy exchange of opinions!
