Ooops, yup, your right about the non-stops, forgot about them. Since I always do my transpac flights originating from the West Coast, I guess I never thought about flying to DTW to connect to Asia.

In terms of booking them in the upper deck of NW, I would agree. Since I believe NW uses 747-400's on these flights, you should be able to get them reserved in the upper deck even though they are not Elites. NW only blocks off the upper deck for non-elites on their 200 series metal (at least from what I've heard in the past).
