This is one of the main reasons I don't make AS/WN connections. I tried it once in SEA. My AS flight was late and I almost had to make a choice between missing my WN flight or leaving my luggage in SEA. You have no recourse if things don't work out just right. You are responsible for leaving the secure area, claiming your luggage, rechecking your bags, and reclearing security. If anything goes wrong, you are SOL. WN is not responsible for getting your luggage to you at your final destination, they are only responsible for getting it to LAS. I encourage you, if at all possible to do carry-on only. If you must check luggage, I think a 2 1/2 hour window would be the least I would try to do. Don't even think about trying to get the AS flight that departs 50 minuntes after your WN flight arrives, that's not enough time to retreive your bags, recheck them, and reclear security in LAS.
